Look, a Goose!

One of our bloggers had been ranting about how Yankees fans should cut Mike Mussina some slack. It doesn't look like Joe Torre or Ron Guidry agree with him.

Interesting stat I heard yesterday, in his last three starts, out of the 215 pitches he has thrown, batters have swung and missed 8 times. 8 times! That's it. All means is it's not command, it's stuff. He just flat out doesn't have it right now. Is it just for now? Or is it time to hang his cleats up? Only time will tell.

They didn't pull me from the rotation all together. They gave skipping me on one start! This will help my arm.

By the way, you don't lose stuff in one month. How was I 4-0 with an ERA under 3.00 before these 3 starts you dingleberry!

Really? How long does it take to lose your stuff then? 2 months? A year? 3 years? I'm pretty sure you can lose your stuff at any point in time buddy.

Also, I never said they pulled you from the rotation, but what if Ian Kennedy gives a quality start? You think your gunna be put right back in there for the playoff run? DOUBT IT

I am not getting pissed because I know how poorly I have pitched lately, and I know that this little kid they got coming up is going to pitch badly as well.

The bottom line is I sucked against the Tigers and the Angels. Good line-ups are gunna abuse me. If we make the playoffs you would be a fool to start me. BUT...I can still give you 6-7 solid innings against the Tampas, Baltimores and Kansas Citys of the world...All of whom the Yankees play in September! Who do you think I pitched well against before these 3 starts?? The crap line-ups of the AL!

This whole situation is nuts.

If that's the case (aka you can't pitch against good line ups)...doesn't that mean you're losing/lost your stuff?

It means that instead of being Mike Mussina...I am more like a a Paul Byrd type pitcher. Im servicable for a season, but in a big game you don't want me in there.

Down the stretch I could keep you in games against bad teams.

There are plenty of hitters that make a living hitting off bad pitchers, but can't hit good pitching.

Lost my stuff? Off three bad starts? People said Glavine was done three years ago. Abreu has "lost it" in May. People go thru slumps they go thru dead arms, etc. I would not say I'm done or lost my stuff just yet. Only time will tell.

1) "Only time will tell" was the last comment made on the post.

2)"I am more like a a Paul Byrd type pitcher." Are you saying that Paul Byrd has just as good stuff as Mussina? Or that Mussina never had that great stuff?

The first comment would infer that Mussina has lost is stuff, if he is now more like Paul Byrd.

The second is just plain not true.

So which is it? Either way, your digging yourself into a pretty deep whole here Moose.

What are you talking about with this "Lost Stuff"? THis isn't a fuckin TV show or something. Its clear my velocity is down and my location is off. Right now I do not have good stuff. The fact is it isn't like I was lighting up the radar gun last year or the year before. Stuff means shit. Getting guys out means something. A month ago I got guys out and lately I haven't.

You guys are throwing me under the bus for three starts. I personally do not believe you can decide whether I "lost my stuff" in that short of a time frame. The fact is I know how to pitch and I can still get major leaguers out on bad teams.

Yes, there was once a time where I could reach 93-94 on the gun and come back with an off the table knuckle curve. Those days are gone. Pitchers get older and they have to change to survive, which is what I have done to stay around this long and what I will have to continue to do inorder to get through this latest slump. If I can't adapt and get through this then I am done. But like I said before, time will tell because it is way too soon to be making nonsensical idiodic statements like "lost stuff" over three starts in the course of a 20 year career.

sounds like someone is a little upset because they finally realize they don't have it anymore and it might be time to call it quits.

P.S. You've lost your STUFF!

what do you mean everyone is throwing you under me? You just got PULLED FROM A START.

No one is throwing you under me, you are being yanked, there's no bus throwing. You sat down with your manager and pitching coach and now you are no longer starting your next start, get it?

Was Glavine ever pulled from a start?

The manager and team did not throw me under the bus...the fans did jackass.

The only way I pitch again in the rotation this season is if someone sucks that much or gets hurt. If they just skipped my start then that would be a different story.

Hughes has sucked the past month too!! And he pees his pants when hes nervous.

Make up your mind Mike!
